Chapter 12. Upload media via the Media Bar

A. Introduction

1. In Unit 02, Chapter 6, you learned how to upload media files and prepare media items via the Wildfire menu.

2. Now you will learn another way to do this using the Media Bar on a page editing screen.

3. Note: If you have media files with large file sizes, rather than using the methods of this chapter, see Chapter 5, Section C and D.

B. Import audio files while on a page editing screen

1. Open a standard page in editing mode.

2. On the right side of the editing screen, you will find the Media Bar.

3. On the Media Bar, click on the audio icon to start importing an audio item.

4. IMPORTANT: To successfully add a media item, you must complete all remaining steps in this section before navigating to another part of the Wildfire system.

5. A working window opens, asking for the source of the audio file(s) you want to import.

a) Leave the pre-selected option of Audio upload for files on your own computer.

b) Importing audio from Faith Comes By Hearing is done by your Implementation Manager. Ask for his help if you want this done.

c) Click on the button Continue.

6. A new working window opens, allowing you to search for and select files.

a) Click on the link +Add files at the bottom left of the gray frame.

b) A file browser window opens showing your computer’s file system.

c) Select one or more files (allowed file types are mp3, wav).

d) Click on the button Open.

e) Your files are now listed inside the gray frame.

f) Click on the link Start upload.

g) Files will have a green dot with a checkmark once they are uploaded successfully.

h) Click on the button Continue.

7. A new working window opens, asking you for details for each uploaded file.

a) Write a short and clear title for each item in each Navigation Language.

b) Uncheck the box if you do NOT want to display download links beneath the media player.

c) Add a scripture reference, if applicable.

d) Add a poster image, if you wish.

e) Scroll down in the working window to find and process all uploaded audio items.

f) Click on the button Save at the bottom of the working window.

8. Your audio items are now listed on the Media Bar.

a) Click on the Media Library icon to open and view the media list in the Media Bar.

b) Audio items are listed with a volume icon.

9. Your audio items can now be inserted on a page.

C. Import video files while on a page editing screen

1. Open a standard page in editing mode.

2. On the right side of the editing screen, you will find the Media Bar.

3. On the Media Bar, click on the video icon to start importing a video item.

4. IMPORTANT: To successfully add a media item, you must complete all remaining steps in this section before navigating to another part of the Wildfire system.

161. Select location of video files to import

a) Leave the pre-selected option of Video upload for files on your own computer.

(1) Click on the button Continue and move on to Step 6 below.

b) Click on the drop-down menu to select Video hosted on YouTube.

(1) Click on the button Continue and skip to Step 8.

6. A new working window opens, allowing you to search for and select files.

a) Click on the link +Add files at the bottom left of the gray frame.

b) A file browser window opens showing your computer’s file system.

(Depending on your computer settings, you may see your files in either list mode or icon mode.)

c) Select one or more files (allowed file types are .mp4, .avi, .3gg, .mpeg, .mpg, .m4v, .wmv, .mov, .3gp, .flv, .rm, .ram, .swf, .dat).

d) Click on the button Open.

e) Your files are now listed inside the gray frame.

164. Video files ready to upload

f) Click on the link Start upload.

g) Files will have a green dot with a checkmark once they are uploaded successfully.

h) Click on the button Continue.

7. A new working window opens, asking you for details for each uploaded file.

a) Write a short and clear title for each item in each Navigation Language.

b) Uncheck the box if you do NOT want to display download links beneath the media player.

c) Add a scripture reference, if applicable.

d) Add a poster image, if you wish.

e) Scroll down within the working window to find and process all uploaded video items.

f) Click on the button Save at the bottom of the working window.

g) Skip to Step 10.

8. If you selected Video hosted on YouTube in Step 5.b. above, you will see the following window:

a) Open a new tab or window in your Internet browser.

b) Navigate to the YouTube website and the video you wish to use.

c) Copy the URL from the address bar at the YouTube website.

d) Return to the Source window on the previous browser tab.

e) Paste the URL into the field.

f) Click on the button Continue.

9. At the next screen, supply details for the media item.

170. Write titles in each Navigation Language

a) Write a short and clear title for the YouTube video in each Navigation Language.

b) Add a scripture reference for the YouTube video, if applicable.

c) Note that a poster image is automatically imported with the YouTube link.

d) IMPORTANT: Make sure that the checkbox next to Show related videos (red arrow above) is unchecked.

e) Click on the button Save.

f) Move on to Step 10 below.

10. Your video items are now listed on the Media Bar.

a) Click on the Media Library icon to open and view the media list in the Media Bar.

11. Your video items can now be inserted on a page.

D. Create a playlist

1. Open a standard page in editing mode.

2. On the right side of the editing screen, you will find the Media Bar.

3. On the Media Bar, click on the icon for Playlist (music notes and film).

4. A working window opens, listing choices for how to create the playlist.

173. Select how you will create a playlist

a) Create a playlist using drag and drop. Select from media items you have already uploaded (option most commonly used).

b) Create a playlist based on Scripture references. Ask your Implementation Manager for help.

c) Import a complete book of audio from Faith Comes By Hearing. Ask your Implementation Manager for help.

d) Click on the button Continue.

5. At the next window, give the playlist a title in each Navigation Language.

a) Click on the button Continue.

6. At next window, you will build the playlist from items in your Media Library.

175. Building a playlist

a) Open the Media Bar media list.

b) Click on the icon next to a media item, then drag it and drop it into the box with the dashed gray outline.

c) Click the button Add another item and continue to build your playlist.

d) When the playlist is complete, click on the button Save.

7. The playlist now appears on the Media Library list.

a) Click on the Media Library icon to open and view the media list in the Media Bar.

b) Playlists are listed with a multimedia icon.

8. Your playlist can now be inserted on a page.
